Privacy is an important aspect of personal space and considering that your guest room will be your guest’s personal space, it is important to ensure that there is adequate privacy in the room.
You can add privacy to your guest room by adding heavy drapes that will not only prevent excess light to come in but will also not become transparent when the light in the room is on. You can also provide lighting with dimmers to enhance privacy. One of the easiest ways to increase privacy in a guest room is by using blinds that are available in a large variety.

A guest room is a personal space you are providing to your guests. A guest room should be equipped in a way that your guest is comfortable in whatever he or she may choose to do in the room and lighting is an important aspect of that.
Ensure that the lights in the room can be dimmed. This will ensure that the guest can create a light setting that is most convenient. Also, ensure that the light is conveniently placed and does not affect TV viewing. Also, it would be nice to have a reading lamp beside a comfortable chair.

Guest rooms are where your guests expect to find privacy and comfort in a place outside of their own homes. It is important to give your guests all the comforts they would expect in their own homes and good linen is one of them.
Use matching linen to create a theme for your guest room. Ensure that the bed covers, blankets, pillow cases, curtains and rugs are color coordinated. Ensure that you do have extra linen, but there is always a likelihood of staining or spilling accidents. Also, ensure that all the linen in the guest bedroom is clean and preferably ironed.

One of the most important requirements in a guest room is space to put down a suitcase. Any guest who visits you is bound to carry luggage and will need space to put it down. Ensure that you have a luggage rack, if possible. If not, at least make sure that there is a small table to keep the luggage on.
Also, ensure that there is seating arrangement in the room near the door. A guest may want to remove his or her shoes without having to stoop very low and without having to drag muddy shoes all the way to the bed.

A guest room is not the right place for you to dump your old, sagging mattress. If you don’t want to use it yourself, you should expect your guests to use it.
Ideally, you want to make the best impression on your guests. Consider getting the best bedding you can afford. If your budget is not too large, consider getting an air mattress. They are not only comfortable, but extremely convenient. They can be placed on top of a bed, on a couch or even on the floor. They can also be easily moved and stored, in case you have shortage of storage space.
