One of the biggest constraints of creating a truly exotic garden is creating the right soil conditions. Even if you choose plants from regions that have weather conditions similar to yours, you may not be able to replicate the soil conditions which are just as important.
Here is an innovative idea. How about digging holes in your garden and then placing potted plants in it? You will need to ensure that is rim is well over ground level to ensure that the different types of soils do not get mixed up. But, even this rim can be hidden by using decorative rocks and pebbles.
